Hash Per Second

Hash per second (H/s) is a key cryptocurrency metric. It measures the computing power of a mining device or an entire network. A hash is a cryptographic output. Miners create these hashes to solve a complex puzzle. This puzzle validates new blocks. A higher hash rate means more puzzle attempts per second. This directly increases a miner’s chance to find a valid block. Therefore, a higher H/s signals a more powerful network.

The Hash Rate’s Role in Mining

Miners use specialized hardware to generate hashes. These devices, like GPUs or ASICs, work constantly. Their sole purpose is to find a hash. This hash must meet a specific difficulty target.
